We are a teacher-owned company! A worker co-op is a democratically run business structure owned by the workers! This allows us to keep a low overhead & better serve our community with scholarships, free workshops, and more.

We teach in-home lessons or cover the cost of hourly rental studios conveniently located in Manhattan and Brooklyn, including in Midtown, Gowanus, and near Atlantic-Barclays center.

We teach kids and adults! Many of our best students started late in life. Our teachers also excel at helping middle and high school students achieve their goals, including getting into major conservatories.

Instruments We Teach
NYMC has teachers for every instrument, including piano, guitar, drums, voice, ukelele, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, violin, viola, cello, and bass. No matter what style of music you’re interested in playing, we have highly qualified teachers with extensive experience teaching and performing that music. We have expert jazz saxophonists, classical pianists, funk bass players, and pop vocalists. Our guitar teachers have backgrounds in jazz and classical and everything in between! You can learn rock solos, jazz standards, piano songs and more.
Who We Teach
Our teachers are experienced with all ages, from young children starting piano and violin, to elementary, middle, and high school band students, and to those wishing to audition for music in college. We also all have adult students who are picking up an instrument for the first time or who played in the past and are reigniting their passion for music.
